Dr. Phil,
you managed to put together another show based completely on rumors and unsubstanciated facts. The ‘call from Natalee’ has been proved unlikely by the FBI, the ‘Diario reporter whos was tracking Natalee’ turns out to be a lone macho, the ‘leads’ followed in Mexico and Venezuela have nothing to do with the case itself and are purely sensationalist TV.
You’ve been inteviewed by Jay Leno to promote your show and spread rumours about ‘leads’ and that you believe Natalee ’still may be alive’, but provide no concrete evidence to back this up. You abuse people’s trust by pretending you actually have the resources to ’solve’ the case and prove Aruba law enforcement wrong, stomping around like a cowboy and insulting the people of Aruba. And it’s all just one big ratings ploy.
And as it weren’t enough to showcase Beth Holloway calling you Saint Phil on the show (you also publicize this clearly on the show summary on your website), you have to abuse Christian symbolicism in your ad to promote your commercial show too. In december’s issue of Oprah magazine, the ad for your show reads:
“Wise men once followed a star, now wise women do the same thing… every day.
Wise women have always known the importance of good advice. Now onder they’ve been turning to Dr. Phil since day one. This holiday season, follow your own star. Its’ easy to find him, just check local listings.”
Dr. Phil, you disgust me. Recall the boycott and apologize to the people of Aruba.
